What is a Powerflush?

Powerflush

Powerflushing is the process of removing or 'flushing out' accumlated sludge deposits from central heating systems. A powerflush can make a heating system more efficient and help save you money by avoiding the need for expensive repairs. Please note we would use manual methods on very old gravity system and on mini and microbore pipework.

Step 1

Having completed all relevant safety checks, the engineer will isolate the central heating system and drain.

Step 2

The powerflushing machine will then be attached and isolation valves turned off.

Step 3

Cleanser is added to the system via the powerflushing filter canister.

Step 4

The central heating system will be partly re-filled, ensuring the radiators re only half-full so the engineer can check for leaks.

Step 5

The heating system will be turned on for 15 minutes with all radiators open. This is to check the radiators are hot at the bottom and cold at the top.

Step 6

With the system running, the engineer will agitate each radiator with the VibraClean tool for 15-20 seconds.

Step 7

The engineer will continue to agitate the radiators to dislodge any sludge deposits until the return hose to the powerflushing filter runs clear (usually 5 mins)

Step 8

The system will be turned on and controls re-set to customers requirements and system will be commissioned following instructions. Once process has been completed, the system radiators will be filled from half-full, removing all air.
